Q: What age do you have to be to attend the Burton Senior Center?
A:  The minimum age to attend is 50 years of age.  There are certain programs in which the participant needs to be 60 or older to qualify.

Q:  Does participation at the Burton Senior Center require a membership?
A:  No

Q: How do I sign up for a ride to the Burton Senior Center?
A:  We offer transportation to the Senior Center on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.  Please call 24 hours in advance to schedule a ride.

Q: How do I sign up for lunch?
A: The Burton Senior Center offers a congregate meal Monday through Friday. Please call 24 hours in advance to reserve a lunch. 

Q: What does MMAP stand for?
A:  Medicare / Medicaid Assistance Program

Q: What is the MMAP program?
A: Information about regulations, health insurance and relevant insurance products provided.  MMAP counselors are not connected with any insurance company, nor are they licensed  to sell insurance.  Their purpose is to serve you objectively and confidentially.  Besides general Medicare and Medicaid questions and enrollment, MMAP counselors may also help you with information and enrollment in the Medicare Savings Program.

Q: Do I need to make an appointment to see a MMAP counselor?
A:  Yes. Appointments are available on Fridays. 

Q: What type of medical equipment is available through our loan closet program?
A:  All our medical equipment is on a first come first serve basis.  We have various size walkers, wheelchairs, canes, bedside commodes and bath seats.

Q:  Who is eligible to borrow medical equipment?
A:  All City of Burton residents or you must be 60 or older and a Genesee County resident.

Q: How can I get a copy of the Burton Senior Light Newsletter?
A: 

  • You may download and complete a participation / newsletter application from our web site.  You may choose to receive a copy of the newsletter via email or have a newsletter sent to your home simply by returning the completed application to our address. 
  • You may view or print the latest version of our newsletter from our web site.
