City Seeking Alternate Zoning Board of Appeals Member

City Seeking Alternate Zoning Board of Appeals Member

The City of Burton seeks an individual to fill the remaining term of an Alternate Zoning Board of Appeals Member.

The position is one of two alternate positions and requires the candidate to be a resident of the City of Burton.

The term for this position will expire in February 2020.

All Zoning Board of Appeals members and alternates are appointed by the Burton City Council at a City Council meeting.

The alternate ZBA member serves in the place of an absent board member.  Alternates are not required to attend every meeting of the ZBA, but are encouraged to attend as many as possible.  Many times absences occur at the last minute and the alternate that is present will take the absent member’s seat.   Alternates are contacted in advance when a ZBA member gives notice for a planned absence.

If you are interested in serving the community in this position, please send a letter of application along with your name, address, contact information and a brief statement as to why you believe you are a good candidate for the position.  Resumes are not required but are helpful to city council members during their deliberations.  Applications will be taken until the position is filled, however, applications received by noon on Friday, July 13, 2018 will have first priority at the Monday, July 16, 2018, 7:00 PM meeting of the Burton City Council.
