The City Clerk is also responsible for recruiting, hiring and training Election Inspectors to work at the polls on election day.  The City of Burton has 12 precincts and 2 Absentee Counting Boards and needs approximately 86 election inspectors to work in the precincts on election day.  Election inspectors are paid for their time and training.  This is a valuable civil service and we are extremely fortunate to have many wonderful election inspectors.  Due to the relocation of certain Election Inspectors, vacations, or sometimes unexpected illness, we can always use additional assistance.  Why not consider being an election inspector? 

Working as an Election Inspector
To qualify to be an Election Inspector, you must be a registered voter in the State of Michigan and at least 16 years old, able to perform clerical tasks and enjoy working with the public.  Inspectors work from 6:00 a.m. until dismissed by the Chairperson or City Clerk.
