To register to vote, you must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age on or before Election Day, a resident of Michigan and the City of Burton at least 30 days before Election Day and not serving a sentence in jail or prison.
Mail in registrations must be received at least 15 days prior to the election. New legislation passed in November of 2018, making registering to vote even easier! Now, in-person voter registration can be done up to and including Election Day with proof of residency in the Clerk's Office during regular business hours. Get your voter registration form here: Voter Registration form.
You may also register to vote at any Secretary of State Office in Michigan. If you change your address or update your Driver's License or Michigan ID, you will automatically be registered to vote. Criteria for registration is available at the Secretary of State website: http:www.michigan.gov/vote.
